KATE GRAHAM FILMMAKER

On the last day before leaving for university, eighteen-year-old Bea spends a summer afternoon drifting across the Yorkshire countryside with her three closest friends. Armed with skateboards, a guitar, and an old DV camera, the girls swim in rivers, inhale balloons, and roam the moors searching for the “Blue Hour” - a brief moment after sunset when the world is said to stop.

As Bea films the day unfolding around her, the excitement of leaving home becomes tangled up with the fear of what she’s leaving behind: her vulnerable mum, her volatile father, and the friendships that have defined her teenage years.

'Blue Hour' is an intimate coming-of-age film about female friendship and the bittersweet threshold between adolescence and adulthood.
